Physical Therapy

  • Pediatric Physical Therapists are physical therapists with an expertise in normal development of movement patterns for infants, babies, toddlers, children, teenagers and young adults.  As a result of their expertise, they are able to provide expert and targeted instruction to progress gross motor skills for children who have conditions related to genetic, neurologic and orthopedic disorders typically associated with developmental delays.  Pediatric Physical Therapists also work with children with acute injuries related to broken bones or surgeries, sports injuries or recurring injuries requiring assistance to improve balance or gait training or return the patient to their peak function.  Pediatric Physical Therapists help children learn to move so that they can explore and learn from their environment.  In order to do this, physical therapists promote independence for every child, increase active participation in all areas of life, improve a child’s strength and endurance, enhance learning opportunities and ease challenges associated with daily caregiving.
